In a significant display of military prowess, the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps recently conducted a training exercise in Sikkim, involving the firing of anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) at a super high-altitude area of 17,000 feet on April 11. This exercise, aimed at testing the performance of ATGMs in challenging mountainous terrain, reaffirmed the army’s commitment to the “Ek Missile Ek Tank” goal.

According to the press release by Guwahati’s Defence PRO, the ATGM system showcased remarkable accuracy and effectiveness in high-altitude environments. Units from mechanized and infantry divisions across the Eastern Command participated in the exercise, engaging in extensive live firing from various platforms to simulate battlefield scenarios with Super High Altitude ATGMs.

The army emphasized the ATGM units’ ability to neutralize armored threats with exceptional lethality, ensuring successful missions in mountainous terrain. This exercise underscores the army’s readiness to combat threats in diverse terrains, including high-altitude regions.

In addition to the ATGMs exercise, the Indian Army recently tested the new-generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile, ‘Agni Prime,’ from Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The launch, witnessed by top military officials including Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, demonstrated India’s advancements in missile technology.

Agni Prime, an advanced variant of the Agni class of missiles, boasts lighter weight and features new guidance and propulsion systems. With a range of 1,000 to 2,000 km, it is capable of carrying nuclear payloads, enhancing India’s strategic deterrence capabilities.

Furthermore, India achieved the first flight test of its domestically developed Agni-5 missile last month. With a range of up to 5,000 km, Agni-5 can cover extensive areas across Asia, including northern regions of China and parts of Europe, bolstering India’s national security.

These developments underscore India’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities and maintaining regional stability. With ongoing advancements in missile technology like Super High Altitude ATGMs and rigorous training exercises, the Indian Army remains prepared to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and security interests.
