PV Sindhu Singapore Open: PV Sindhu won the Singapore Open 2022, defeating Wang Zhi Yi in the final

In 2019, Sindhu became the first Indian to win the Badminton World Championships since its inception in 1977 and this winning streak continues till now, Indian badminton player PV Sindhu won the Singapore Open 2022, defeating Wang Zhi Yi in the final. She won the Singapore Open title by defeating Wang Zhi Yi of China in the final.

Singapore Open Badminton 2022 Final Highlights:

Sindhu defeated her opponent in three games 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 to capture the title. After the win, Sindhu said with a big smile, “Thanks to everyone out there who helped me win the title. Singapore is a nice city, nice to be here”.

PV Sindhu further says, “It is always good to win the final after a long time. Getting this title today means a lot because it has given me a lot of confidence, definitely it will take me to another level. The whole tournament has been good. This is just the beginning. I am hoping to take some rest before focusing on the Commonwealth Games.”

Singapore Open records held by Indian players in Badminton:

PV Sindhu has become the second Indian woman after 12 years of Saina Nehwal won the Singapore Open. This is Sindhu’s third overall 18th title of the year. Sindhu is the second Indian female shuttler to win the Singapore Open title, the third Indian overall. Saina Nehwal (2010) and Sai Praneeth (2017) have previously won the title in women’s men’s singles events.
